BIKANER: A Pakistani national, who was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) from the Hindumalkot border outpost in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan around 11pm on July 16, has confessed that he crossed the international border with the intention to kill suspended BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her alleged controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad. “The 24-year-old Pakistani national has been identified as Rizwan Ashraf (24), a resident of Kuthiyal Shekha locality of Punjab province in Pakistan,” Sriganganagar SP Anand Sharma said on Tuesday. Sharma said that the intruder was found by a BSF patrol under suspicious circumstances. The BSF personnel found two knives, one about 11-inch long; religious texts; clothes and food among his belongings. The accused was handed over to the Hindumalkot police. He was questioned by a joint interrogation team of the IB, RAW and military intelligence. “Rizwan Ashraf told the team that he had crossed the international border with the intention of killing Nupur. He had intended to visit the Ajmer dargah to offer a ‘chadar’ before executing the conspiracy,” the SP said. “The intruder was religiously so motivated (for the murder) that though he had no idea where Nupur resided or how he would reach her, he still crossed the border to execute her,” the police officer said. Rizwan reportedly attended a meeting of clerics in Pakistan, where he made up his mind to cross the border and kill Nupur.
